Our Junior School covers all students from Prep to Year 3. We are committed to ensuring that all students receive every opportunity to achieve to their potential.
Working together with parents, we believe that we can ensure the best possible learning environment to assist students to achieve.

Our Early Years Philosophy embraces this by acknowledging that children:-
  • come to school as capable and competent learners, with a variety of diverse experiences both social and cultural. We strive to build on the foundation provided by parents.
  • achieve their best by active learning in a safe supportive environment.
  • achieve their best by exploring by themselves and interacting with other children and adults.
  • need to be encouraged to experiment and to risk take without fear of ridicule, to find the best solution to any given situation.
  • require a positive disposition to learning and themselves to succeed at school and beyond which needs to come from the home and the school.
  • need to be resilient and learn that mistakes are one way of learning and that they do not mean we fail or are a failure just need to do things differently

We acknowledge that students learn in a variety of ways and cater for individual learning styles and interests. Teachers use a range of strategies and assessments tools to ensure students have the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learnt and how it can be applied to their everyday life.

Students are screened and progress monitored at regular stages by Class Teachers and Support Staff. The results of these screening tests determine what interventions programs are required. Programs are planned and implemented to address identified areas or additional classroom assistance may be offered to ensure students can reach their potential.

Talented students are catered for through inclusion in extra curricular activities such as Choir from Year 2, Chess Club and the Instrumental Music Program from Year 3. Gifted and Talented children are identified and are offered opportunities to participate in class and where possible school activities which engage, challenge and extend their thinking and problem solving skills.
